The Budhanilkantha municipality is named after the historical and religious background which is regarded as the major resource of the country. It is located 12 km north from the Kathmandu valley which is the most populated city of the valley compared to the 11 other municipality. This Budhanilkantha municipality is attached with the Nuwakot on the north whereas Shivapuri Nagarjung national park is touched in the southern part where ward no. 3, 4, 6, 7 and the Tokha municipality’s ward no. 4 Dhapasi is located. In the western the Tokha municipality is located. On the other hand, the eastern part the Gokarneshowr municipality and Kathmandu metropolitan city ward no 6 is located. Including the Capali Bhadrakali, Bishnu Budhanilkantha, Khadka Bhadrakali, Mahankal, Chunikel and Kapan there are 6 VDC which unite the Budhanilkantha municipality. According to the data of 2068 B.S the total population was 1,07,918.
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (SNNP) is situated in the north side of Kathmandu valley. The park headquarters is located in Panimuhan village of ChapaliBhadrakati VDC of Kathmandu district. The headquarters is at 12 kilometers away from Kathmandu downtown. SNNP has three sector offices viz. Manichur, Dhakalchaur, andNagarjun. SNNP was established in 2002 AD. The park is demarcated by stone and brick wall.
SNNP has two islands of forests namely Shivapuri and Nagarjun. The park area is surrounded by heavy sub-urban population. Geographically Shivapuri forest located within 27°45' to 27°52' N latitude and 85°16' to 85°45' E longitude and Nagarjun forest is located within 27°43' to 27°46' N latitude and 85°13' to 85°18' E longitude. It claims part of Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Sindhupalchowk districts of Nepal. The elevation range is 1350 masl to 2732 masl.
