Shivapuri Peak

 
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (SNNP) is situated in the north side of Kathmandu valley. The park headquarters is located in Panimuhan village of ChapaliBhadrakati VDC of Kathmandu district. The headquarters is at 12 kilometers away from Kathmandu downtown. SNNP has three sector offices viz. Manichur, Dhakalchaur, andNagarjun. SNNP was established in 2002 AD. The park is demarcated by stone and brick wall.

SNNP has two islands of forests namely Shivapuri and Nagarjun. The park area is surrounded by heavy sub-urban population. Geographically Shivapuri forest located within 27°45' to 27°52' N latitude and 85°16' to 85°45' E longitude and Nagarjun forest is located within 27°43' to 27°46' N latitude and 85°13' to 85°18' E longitude. It claims part of Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Sindhupalchowk districts of Nepal. The elevation range is 1350 masl to 2732 masl. Trekking in Shivapuri is to commence at Budhanilkantha with the purpose to be amazed with pleasant views of the central and eastern mountain ranges, heavenly views of sunrise and sunset and is good introduction to Nepalese rural life. The end point of the trek appears with two options either at Nagarkot or Dhulikhel. It is an excellent trip for those who wish to avoid a long strenuous trek or only have time for a short and easy trek.Trek to Shivapuri can be done throughout the year as each season adds beauty and majesty to this trek. The view points at Nagarkot offers a long lasting experience that has many different options to enjoy the magic of mountains. The village of Nagarkot is on the edge of the valley and offers superb views of the mountains as well as Kathmandu valley.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m): Arrival Kathmandu Airport you will be picked up at the international airport in Kathmandu and transferred to the hotel . After refreshments your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel for a short evening walk

Day 02: Full day in Kathmandu with city tours :Today you have a full day guided sightseeing tour to the Buddhist and Hindu sights in Kathmandu, probably to Durbar Square, then visit “Swyambhunath” a Holy sight of Hinduism and Buddhism also known as “the monkey temple” as a large number of holy monkeys are living in the north-west part of the temple. Next, you will be taken to “Pashupatinath a sacred Hindu temple situated on the bank of the Bagmati River. You will then be driven to “Boddhanath Stupa” one of the biggest and oldest stupas in the world. Later in the afternoon there will be a pre-trip meeting with your trekking guide in your hotel. Our office representative will brief you regarding the trek as well as provide you the opportunity to ask any questions of the upcoming trip. Second overnight in Kathmandu. 

Day 03: Kathmandu to Chisapani (2215m) :The Chisapani area trek starts from Sundarijal, where there’s a small dam and a hydroelectricity station in the northeast corner of the Kathmandu valley. The walk leads to a climb through wet, subtropical forest to an oak forest and on to Mulkharka, a scattered Tamang village. The trail again ascends through oak forest to a pass called Burlung Bhanjyang. After reaching the ridge, walk continues on the trail to descend at Chisopani for the overnight stop. Chisapani, offers fabulous panorama of the Jugal mountain range including Langtang, Ganesh and as far towards Mt.Everest in the far east and Manaslu, Annapurna towards far west.

Day 04: Chisapani to Nagarkot (2100m) :-Todays’ trek leads through the forest and along the ridge; with spectacular views of Annapurna, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal The walk towards Nagarkot has outstanding views of the Himalayas, the trail leads through interesting rural farm villages. Along the ridge between the Chisapani and Nagarkot offers excellent panoramic scenery of the surrounding verdant landscapes and the snow capped mountain range.

Day 05: Nagarkot to Changunarayan and back to Kathmandu:-After the wonderful morning with grand panoramic view of the high snow capped mountain range and with the beautiful sunrise, walk leads to a descend most of the way passing through rural farm villages and friendly locals, trekking on the terraces with fabulous views of the surrounding landscapes and as far to the Bhaktapur city. After a good walk of 3-4 hours reaching at our destination at Changhunarayan, Changunarayan an ancient temple, listed in the world heritage site, from here we take an hour drive back to Kathmandu, after a glorious time up in the hills.
